Who owns this site
WingChunReviews.com is owned and published by Sifu Kendra Mahon, a Wing Chun instructor who teaches online through kungfukendra.com. She decides what gets published here. This is not an independent review site. You can read more about her and about the people who contribute on our About page.
The owner's own course appears on this site
Kendra teaches the Kung Fu Kendra Wing Chun Online Certification Course. Because she owns this site, she has a financial interest in that course, and you should keep that in mind whenever it comes up.
Our rule is simple: wherever Kendra's course, books or products are mentioned, we label them right there in the text with a note such as "". The disclosure bar at the top of every page says the same thing. The page dedicated to her course, Kung Fu Kendra Reviews, is the owner describing her own program.
We publish the criteria we use on How We Review, and we apply them to Kendra's course too. We'd encourage you to use those criteria yourself, on every course you consider, including hers.
No affiliate links, no commissions
This site does not use affiliate or referral links, and no seller pays us when you click a link or buy something. When we mention a book, film or type of equipment, it's because we think it's useful, not because anyone pays us.
The one financial interest is the owner's own course: if you buy it after reading this site, the owner earns from that sale. That's why it is labelled everywhere it appears.
Contributors are unpaid
The practitioners who share their views with us on training, gear and course criteria are not paid for their contributions and have no business connection to the owner. Final editorial decisions are the owner's.
Reader reviews
Anyone can submit a review of a course they've trained with. Before a review appears on Student Reviews, we check it for spam, abuse, and personal information that shouldn't be published. We don't edit reviews to change the writer's opinion, and we don't hold back reviews because they're critical. That includes negative reviews of the owner's own course, which we publish on the same terms as any other review.
Why we tell you this
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission, and consumer protection bodies in other countries, expect websites to clearly disclose relationships that could affect what they publish. Beyond the rules, we think you deserve to know who is talking to you so you can weigh our advice accordingly.
