Wing Chun Reviews is operated by the Wing Chun Bureau of Compliance — an independent panel of experienced Wing Chun practitioners whose mission is to evaluate, verify, and rate online Wing Chun training programs against established standards of lineage integrity, instructional quality, and curriculum structure. We exist because the online Wing Chun space has no shortage of courses and a shortage of honest, knowledgeable evaluation.
Every course reviewed on this site is evaluated by our three-member panel. Between them they bring over 120 years of Wing Chun training experience across two of the art's most significant lineages.
Adam has trained in the Traditional Wing Chun lineage for decades and brings a deep understanding of what authentic lineage-grounded instruction looks like in practice. His evaluations focus on structural integrity, centreline application, and whether a course's claimed lineage is genuinely reflected in what students are taught.
Charlie trains alongside Adam in the Traditional Wing Chun lineage and brings particular expertise in curriculum structure and progression. His reviews assess whether a course takes students from foundation to application in a logical, structurally sound sequence — or whether it front-loads techniques without building the understanding to use them.
Chris trains in the Leung Jan lineage — one of Wing Chun's oldest and most historically significant branches, tracing directly to the system's roots in Guangdong province. His perspective provides the panel with a lineage reference point outside the more commonly known Ip Man branches, allowing for a broader evaluation of whether online courses reflect genuine Wing Chun principles regardless of lineage.
The online Wing Chun space has grown rapidly, and the quality gap between programs is significant. A course can be professionally produced, heavily marketed, and still teach structurally unsound Wing Chun. Conversely, a lower-production course taught by a practitioner with genuine lineage depth can offer exceptional value that surface-level reviews miss entirely.
Our goal is to give prospective students — from complete beginners to experienced practitioners looking to supplement in-person training — an honest assessment of what each program actually offers: lineage integrity, curriculum structure, depth of instruction, feedback mechanisms, pricing transparency, and certification validity.
Each course reviewed on this site is assessed against seven criteria developed by the Bureau of Compliance and detailed in our course evaluation framework. These criteria were designed by practitioners who understand Wing Chun from the inside — not general e-learning reviewers applying generic quality metrics to a specialized art.
We examine the instructor's verifiable lineage and background, the course curriculum and stated learning outcomes, pricing and guarantee terms, student feedback from public platforms, production quality, and the certification process where applicable. Where possible, lineage claims are cross-referenced against publicly available sources and the panel's own knowledge of the Wing Chun community.
The Bureau of Compliance operates independently of any Wing Chun school, instructor, or organization reviewed on this site. Some links are affiliate links — we may earn a commission if you purchase a course through them, at no extra cost to you. This does not influence our ratings or written assessments. Beyond the panel's evaluation, we invite students who have trained with any of the programs listed here to submit their own review. Submitted reviews are verified and checked before publishing. Student experience on the ground is one of the most valuable data points in any course evaluation — and it's one the panel cannot replicate without actually enrolling.
If you've trained with one of the programs listed here, run a Wing Chun course yourself, or spot something on this site that needs correcting, we'd like to hear from you. Visit our Contact page to reach us.
